THE ROOTS OF JOHNSON BESPOKE

Johnson Bespoke was founded by Robin Johnson, one guy in a small lock up, with loads of passion, enthusiasm and skill. One job at a time, the team started to grow and the projects got bigger and better.

Moving from the lock up at the end of the alley, to the basement of an empty newspaper building gave the space to build bigger and better things, but all too soon the guys had outgrown that space, with more tools and machinery required to meet demand.

Fast forward to the present and our new workshop, based in Hastings, equipped with specialist woodworking, joinery, metalwork and fabrication machinery to allow us to produce pretty much anything, to the highest standard possible.

MANAGER

Robin Johnson

Learning how to use tools from his father at an early age sparked Robin’s interest in woodwork and metalwork, which has continued to evolve to the present day. A natural problem solver, Robin loves a challenge.

FOREMAN

Richard

As Joinery Foreman, he oversees the woodworking department, calm and collected, with a wealth of skill. Richard has been in the industry for over 45 years, If he can’t do it no-one can!

ALL- ROUNDER

Rich

Richard, or Bino as he’s affectionately known, has been part of the team since day one, and is a skilled craftsman who can turn his hand to anything. Richard’s quiet confidence comes with his vast knowledge and attention to detail.

JOINER

Tom

Tom has been in the Industry since the age of 16, starting his career in furniture making and restoration before completing a joinery apprenticeship with our foreman, Rich.

When we were expanding our team and Tom popped up, it was a no-brainer, his experience, skills, and knowledge are second to none.

JOINER

Steve

Steve has been in the industry for 10 years, with extensive experience in building sash windows, doors, and staircases.

He brings a number of skills to the table, an upbeat character who relishes a challenge.

CABINET MAKER

Jay

Jay is a seasoned cabinet maker with nearly 30 years experience in the industry.

He recently relocated from London, and has worked for a number of high end bespoke cabinetry companies over the years. A welcome addition and uplifting presence in the workshop.

JOINER

Joe

Joe has joined us recently and has a background in furniture design and making, having diversified into materials such as Metal and Resin.

He joins us after a realisation that his passion truly lies in woodworking.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER

Geoff

Geoff is the latest addition to the office team, an Architectural Designer with over 25 years of experience in feature bespoke staircases and furniture.

He is also a keen photographer, 3d artist and ai creator.

DESIGNER

Sarah

Sarah is a graduate of Design and has been working in the design industry for years.

Divided between the office and workshop, running our CNC machine, she makes the transition between 2D and 3D design a smooth one and has a great understanding of machines and processes.

JOINER

Kit

Kit started with us as an apprentice and is now a fully qualified Joiner.

Watching him develop under Richard’s tutelage has been a great joy, and he is now a highly skilled member of the team.

CABINET MAKER

Tom

Tom has a vast history in the exhibition building industry, and over 10 years experience in cabinet making, primarily producing high end bespoke kitchens and wine cellars.

He takes real pride in his work, loves the satisfaction of a finished product and a happy client.

JOINER

Steve

Steve has been in the Industry for over 33 years, a highly skilled and experienced joiner, his precision and finishing is always top-tier.

He has even been appointed to make items for the queen.

JOINERY IMPROVER

Dane

Dane is our joinery Improver with a Level 2 Joinery qualification and 9 years in the Industry, He’s an upbeat member of the team who thrives in the workshop environment and loves the challenge of an unusual project.

In his personal time, he loves model making.

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

Luke

Luke has recently joined the team as our social media manager. Having qualifications in both media production and engineering is the perfect combination.

Enabling him to capture the story of our processes in an engaging, informed and passionate way.

CNC OPERATOR

Gary

Gary runs our 5 Axis CNC Machine. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering and has over 15 years of experience as a CNC Operative.

When he’s not at work machining our next wild and wonderful project, he enjoys nature photography.

APPRENTICE

Arron

Arron is our 2nd year Apprentice, studying Architectural Joinery at college.

Motivated by a personal drive to learn, build, and create, he has taken the leap to turn his passion into his career and has already become an integral part of the team.

Liz

Liz is our 1st year apprentice, studying Architectural Joinery at college. With over 30 years of experience in the print Industry, she has decided to steer towards a more creative and hands on career
